Electrically Heated Pressure Washer Questions

Do you have an ample supply of 3 phase electricity with a neutral?

  • 415 Volt 32 Amp
  • 415 Volt 63 Amp

Max Temperature of High Pressure Water

The maximum temperature is 80 degrees until the boiler tank is empty. Tanks range from 80 - 150 litres. Depending on the pump flow per minute, this may only last ten minutes of continuous use.

Consider How the User Will Operate the Machine

If the user periodically stops and starts the machine by releasing the handgun, the machine will have a better chance to re-heat the tank to the pre-set/higher temperature.

When the user keeps the trigger pressed, it directly affects the machine's temperature. The pre-heated water tank gets depleted, causing the output temperature to drop as the heat exchanger struggles to maintain the pre-set temperature/desired thermostat setting.

How Many Hours Use Per Day Will the Machine Be in Operation?

The amount of hours gives a good idea of what machine is suitable.

Example: Nilfisk MH5 E24 is rated for 5-6 hours of use per day.

How Many Metres of Pressure Washer Hose Is Required, and Does It Need to Be Non-Marking for Food Areas?

On some models of pressure washers, the 15 - 20 metre hose reel will not have enough room to fit a foam injector. Consider a wall-mounted hose reel.

Pressure Washer Questions

Why Has the Pressure Washer Pump Gone a Milky Colour?

The oil has emulsified, meaning it has mixed with the water pump.

  • Check the ceramic pistons for cracks and replace if you see a hairline crack.
  • Replace water seals & oil seals.

Why Has the Burner Stopped Working on My Hot Pressure Washer?

Some possible causes:

  • Contaminated fuel
  • Level switch not working
  • Worn electrodes
  • Faulty magic eye
  • Not enough fuel pump pressure
  • Faulty pressure switch or thermostat
  • Faulty flow switch
  • Dirty fuel filter
  • Blocked fuel jet or faulty fuel pump
  • Fuel pump drive worn
  • Faulty 240v/24v solenoid

Why Does the High Pressure Hose Vibrate?

It is likely that the pump valves have debris in them or the inlet side of the pump is drawing in air.

Why Does the Pressure Washer Turn On but No Water Comes Out?

Possible issues include a blockage in the pressure washer hose, gun, or lance jet. Remove the high-pressure hose and turn the machine on to see if water comes out.

Air could be drawn in by a chemical valve or loose inlet hose clip on the inlet side of the pump. Additionally, the water filter could be blocked.

Floor Scrubber Driers

What to Consider When Looking for a New Floor Scrubber Drier?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you clean hourly, daily, weekly, monthly?
  • How do you clean at the moment?
  • What is the result you are looking for? - Improved cleaner floors or improved quicker cleaning time.
  • What is the budget?
  • How many square meters need to be cleaned?
  • Do you have racking/shelving in this area?
  • What is the distance between racking?
  • What is the distance from the wall to the end of racking?
  • What is the access/door size width/height to this area?
  • Is it on the ground floor, 2nd level, or mezzanine?
  • Is there a lift? (What is the size/weight limit of the lift - machine dimensions?)
  • What is the floor surface? - concrete, tile, non-slip, etc. (Disc-cylindrical-pad)
  • Where is the tap point for solution filling?
  • Where is the drain to empty/discharge waste water?
  • Are there people working in this area? (in-built charger-acid battery charging!)
  • Are there any obstacles in the area?

Floor Sweepers

What to Consider When Looking for a New Floor Sweeper?

  • Cleaning inside or out (determining power - battery, diesel, petrol or dual power)
  • How many square meters to sweep?
  • What will they be emptying the waste into - blue bins - green bins?
  • What type/size of debris to sweep
  • Sweeping in a warehouse, racking - gangways - overhead height
  • Determine sweep width - pedestrian or ride-on for turning, door access
  • Sweeping inside & out - (solution - Dual Power - battery/diesel)
  • Floor surface type
  • Where are battery chargers kept? (determining external or on-board chargers)
  • Sweeping up ramps - (climb angle)

Standards

What is ATEX?

INDUSTRIAL ATEX VACUUM - the following is taken from the HSE website.

If the material being collected is combustible, it will be mixed with large amounts of air within the vacuum cleaner, forming a cloud of dust and vapours inside the machine, creating an explosive environment. Conventional vacuum cleaner motors produce sparks, providing the 3 main elements for an explosion.

Zone Classification for Gases, Vapours & Mist

  • Zone 0: Explosive atmosphere present continuously or for long periods.
  • Zone 1: Explosive atmosphere likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.
  • Zone 2: Explosive atmosphere not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does, it will persist for a short period of time.

Zone Classifications for Dusts

  • Zone 20: Explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust present continuously or for long periods.
  • Zone 21: Explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.
  • Zone 22: Explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does, it will persist for a short period of time only.
