Frequently Asked Questions

Electrically Heated Pressure Washer Questions

For electrically heated pressure washers, you need a reliable 3-phase electricity supply with a neutral connection. This ensures the heating element operates efficiently and safely. Contact your electrician to verify your supply before purchase.

The maximum temperature varies by machine, but most industrial hot water pressure washers can heat water up to 90-155°C. Higher temperatures are more effective for removing grease and oil. If the user periodically stops and starts the machine by releasing the handgun, the machine will have a better chance to re-heat the tank to the pre-set/higher temperature.

Consider how the operator will use the machine - will they be stationary or mobile? Will they need to stop frequently? This affects the type of pressure washer and accessories you need. Machines with auto-stop features are better for intermittent use.

The amount of hours gives a good idea of what machine is suitable. Light duty machines are designed for 1-2 hours daily use, while commercial and industrial machines can handle 4-8+ hours of continuous operation.

Consider the distance from water supply to cleaning area. Standard hoses come in 10m, 15m, and 20m lengths. For food processing areas, non-marking grey or blue hoses are essential to prevent contamination and meet hygiene standards.

Pressure Washer Troubleshooting

The oil has emulsified, meaning it has mixed with water in the pump. This usually happens due to worn seals or leaving water in the pump during cold weather. The pump oil needs changing and seals may need replacing.

Some possible causes include: blocked fuel filter, faulty ignition electrodes, air in the fuel line, blocked fuel nozzle, faulty fuel pump, or thermostat issues. Check fuel supply first, then inspect electrodes for carbon buildup.

Hose vibration is usually caused by air in the system, a partially blocked inlet filter, insufficient water supply, or worn pump valves. Check your water supply pressure and flow rate, clean inlet filters, and bleed air from the system.

Possible issues include a blockage in the pressure washer hose, gun, or lance jet. Remove the high-pressure hose and turn the machine on to see if water comes out. Also check the inlet filter isn't blocked and water supply is adequate.

Floor Scrubber Driers

Ask yourself the following questions: What is the floor area to be cleaned? What type of flooring (smooth, textured, industrial)? How dirty does the floor get? Do you need a walk-behind or ride-on machine? What is the power source (mains, battery)? What is your budget for purchase and ongoing maintenance?

Floor Sweepers

Consider the following: Indoor or outdoor use? Size of area to sweep? Type of debris (fine dust, larger particles, mixed)? Walk-behind or ride-on required? Battery or petrol powered? Storage space available? Maintenance requirements and costs?

Standards & Regulations

INDUSTRIAL ATEX VACUUM - the following is taken from the HSE website. ATEX refers to the two EU Directives for controlling explosive atmospheres. Equipment used in potentially explosive environments must be ATEX certified. This includes industrial vacuums and pressure washers used in areas where flammable gases, vapours, mists or combustible dusts may be present.

Zone 0: An area where an explosive atmosphere is present continuously or for long periods. Zone 1: An area where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur occasionally during normal operation. Zone 2: An area where an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur during normal operation, but if it does, it will persist for a short period only.
